Educate your Kids:
Educating kids about nutrition is important because healthy kids are going to be healthy adults. Children’s should have choices to choose from but, all choices should be healthy. Every time when children’s are making choices for food they should be accompanied by teachers at school or parent at home. Parents and teachers can educate kids by:
Teach: In schools or at home students must be educated on importance of good nutrition. Teach them about how poor nutrition can cause growth and developmental problems, difficulty concentrating and weak immune system and vitamins deficiency. Also teach them that colorful plate is the healthy one. In every grade from grade one to twelve there should be subjects like health and nutrition. The colorful pigments in fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts and seeds contain valuable phytochemicals and antioxidants that support health and prevent disease. Teach children that high fat food gives heart problems, diabetes and obesity. High salt/sodium can causes high blood pressure and sugary food causes tooth decay.
Encourage: Kids to eat variety foods of all colors. Encourage to have food according to Canadian food guide.
Discourage: Children can limit fat, sodium and added sugar by avoiding deep-fried foods; fast foods; sweets, pastries, desserts and candy; condiments like butter, mayonnaise and creamy salad dressings; processed foods like hot dogs, canned foods, frozen dinners and luncheon meats; packaged chips, crackers and instant noodles; and soda, fruit drinks and energy drinks.
Cooking: Every grade should have cooking classes in school which will give opportunity to learn about healthy eating. Children will gain hands on experience and can learn to identify and try new foods, appreciate different textures and flavors.
Physical Activity:Physical activity balances a healthy diet and has physical, mental, social and emotional benefits. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics says it improves a child’s critical thinking skills and test scores. Federal guidelines recommend 60 minutes of activity a day to support a healthy weight and overall health (Fong, B).

Teach kids to eat healthy:
Jamie Oliver says, "“I wish for everyone to help create a strong, sustainable movement to
educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower
people everywhere to fight obesity.”
